For many years granular corn gluten has been used on turf as a pre-emergent to control unwanted grassy and broadleaf weeds. However, many would argue that the extra nitrogen from high application rates of granular corn gluten, (up to 20 lbs per thousand square feet) actually work against its inhibitory process. Liquid corn gluten hydrolosate has the same mode of action but does not promote the unnatural growth that is associated with the nitrogen in granular corn gluten.
